Clinic 1 - Competition-Introduction Clinic 1 What to Coach

Clinic 2 - Competition-Introduction Clinic 2 How to Coach

Softball BC offers two streams of coaching certification “Community-Sport” and “Competition-Introduction.”

Community-Sport - Coaches in the Community Sport stream typically become involved on a voluntary (and often short-term) basis because their children participate in a sport. They tend to work with participants of all ages who are new to the sport.

Learn to Coach Clinic (Initiation Coach)

Typically a 5.5-6 hour clinic – For coaches of 5-10 year olds A coaches basic introduction of the sport of Softball including Fundamental Skills, drills and positions.

Community Sport – On-Going Participation Clinic

Typically a 12-14 weekend course which covers the following modules:

  •  Fundamental Skills

  •  Practice Planning

  • Positions, skills & drills

  • Rulebook & rules

  •  Clinic wrap-up

Competition Stream - Coaches in the Competition stream usually have previous coaching experience or are former athletes in the sport. They tend to work with athletes over the long term to improve performance, often in preparation for provincial, national, and international competitions.

Competition – Introduction Clinic 1 What to Coach

Typically a 14-16 hour weekend course which covers the following modules:

  • Fundamental Skills

  • Role of a Coach

  • Practice Planning

  • Rulebook & Rules

  • Positions, Skills & drills

  • Clinic Wrap-up

Competition-Introduction Clinic 2 How to Coach

A 14-16 hour weekend course which covers the following modules:

  • Rules

  • Offensive strategies

  • Making Ethical Decisions

  • Coaching Portfolio

  • Clinic wrap-up
