Softball Canada’s National Pitching Program-Pitching Clinics

National Pitching Program Softball Canada’s National Pitching Program is designed to improve the quality of softball pitching in Canada by providing local coaches the necessary resources to develop all interested athletes (young and old, male and female) into competitive pitchers. Achieving this ambitious goal requires a coordinated effort by all Softball Canada stakeholders to design, implement, and administer a standardized curriculum through which pitchers and coaches can progress. Softball Canada, Provincial/Territorial Softball Associations (P/Ts), Master Pitching Instructors (MPI), Regional Pitching Instructors (RPI) and local softball associations are all involved in meeting the varying needs of the athletes across Canada and each have an important role to play in the delivery and success of the National Pitching Program.

National Pitching Program:

Softball BC is looking for Regional Pitching Instructors.

Regional Pitching Instructor Role & Responsibilities

The primary role of the Regional Pitching Instructor (RPI) is to be the pitching expert in their region of their respective province or territory.  The RPI will deliver clinics for players and coaches.  The RPI will also support and mentor pitching coaches within their respective Province/Territory.  In addition, RPIs shall play a key role in assisting their Provincial/Territorial Softball Association with the design and implementation of the National Pitching Program. 

The Regional Pitching Instructor shall:

·         Commit to a minimum of 2 years to program.

·         Deliver weekly clinics to train players and coaches throughout the year.

·         Mentor local pitching coaches in their region of the province or territory.

·         Attend all training sessions, workshops and participate in conference calls hosted by their Provincial/Territorial Softball Association.

·         Communicate on a regular basis with their MPI and Provincial/Territorial Softball Association about the program.

·         Provide feedback about the program in regards to format, content and delivery and provide recommendations for revisions to Softball Canada through their Provincial/Territorial Softball Association.

·         Assist the Provincial/Territorial Softball Association in writing an annual report for Softball Canada providing data about the program and summarizing the feedback from players, coaches, MPIs, and RPIs regarding the National Pitching Program.

·         Promote the National Pitching Program to local softball associations in their region.
