Softball Canada Announces Senior Men's National Team Athlete Pool
Ottawa, ON) Softball Canada is pleased to release the list of players who have been selected to the Senior Men's National Team Athlete Pool for the 2010 season. At this time, the Senior Men's team is scheduled to participate at the VII Pan American Championship which will be held in Guatemala City from November 19-27, 2010.
Softball Canada launches UmpSchool!
(Ottawa, ON) Softball Canada and the Officiating Development Committee are very pleased to launch a new tool to help umpires prepare for the 2010 season - Softball Canada UmpSchool! Softball Canada umpires can now take advantage of an effective new tool as they study the rules for the upcoming season, and prepare for 2010 certification examination.
Softball Canada Launches New CANpitch Program!
(Ottawa, ON) Softball Canada is extremely pleased to announce the launch of its new national pitching program, which will be known as the CANpitch Program. From numerous discussions, it was determined that pitching was a key area in need of coaching resources. Thus, Softball Canada put together a group of internationally acclaimed pitchers to discuss this area of the game, with the goal of developing a standardized pitching curriculum based on Softball Canada's Long-Term Player Development (LTPD) Model, to be used across the country.
BC Ferries - Sporting Life on the Coast Program
BC Ferries and Sport BC recognize that travel is often a barrier to amateur sport teams as they seek competitive opportunities for their athletes. In order to assist in removing this barrier, the Sporting Life on the Coast program, has been developed to provide travel support to Sport BC member organizations and their member clubs. Through this exciting program, BC Ferries and Sport BC will assist with ferry travel costs for athletes, coaches and officials.

Surrey, BC - The 17th Annual Canada Cup International Women's Fastpitch Tournament (Women's Division) has been cancelled for 2010 due to a change in the International Softball Federation dates for the Xll Women's World Championships.
Team BC Mission Staff Application
The Sport and Recreation Branch in the Ministry of Healthy Living and Sport is seeking volunteers from the BC sport, recreation and health services community to serve as Team BC mission staff for the 2011 Canada Winter Games and 2011 Western Canada Summer Games.

Message from Provincial UIC Bob Henning - Dated January 7, 2010 Please note that applications for 2010 Western Canadian, Canadian & Canada Cup Futures Assignments must be submitted by March 31, 2010. Succesful applicants will be notified by April 15, 2010. These dates have been arrived at to best allow Umpires to make work/vacation plans for 2010 and plan their season accordingly. The 2010 application form for these assignments is available in the Umpiring/Resources tab above.
YUKON GETS 2012 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
PLANT CITY, FLORIDA (USA) -- Whitehorse, Yukon, will host the International Softball Federation XIII Women’s World Championship in 2012, it was announced today. ISF President Don Porter said that a solid bid from the host and a successful track record made it the right choice for the marquee fast pitch event.

Don Bates Named Head Coach of Men’s National Softball Team
(Ottawa, ON) Softball Canada is very pleased to announce that Don Bates (Saskatoon, SK) has been chosen as the Head Coach of the Men’s National Team program. Don was an assistant coach with the Men’s program since 2006, and also served as an assistant coach with the Senior Women’s Olympic Team in 2008. Bates will replace Mark Smith (Falmouth, NS), who stepped down earlier this year to take on the Head Coach position of the Women’s National Team program.
