Assistant Program Coordinator Job Description

The Learn to Play Program is designed to be a young person`s introduction to the sport of Softball. The emphasis is on FUN, ACTION, and a POSITIVE ATMOSPHERE, with a gradual introduction to non- stressful competition. The Learn provides children aged 5-10 with maximum opportunity to practice the skills necessary to successfully take part in the (adult) game of Softball.

Job Description

The Program Assistant is responsible for assisting the Program Coordinator with administration of the Learn to Play Softball program within the structure of Softball British Columbia including but not limited to:

  • Make contacts for potential Learn To Play Programs delivered through schools, community recreation centers and local minor associations
  • Coordinate and attend special events, community and school programs
  • Assist in the development of regional community engagement events to promote softball outside the lower mainland
  • Keep detailed records of school programs and participant data needed for funding applications
  • Other administrative duties as assigned
  • Collaborate with and report directly to Program Coordinator

Employment Requirements

  • Part-time employment 10 -12 hours/week beginning January 2011
  • Energetic and self motivated
  • Students/Graduates of Recreation/Physical Education/Early Childhood Education/ Elementary Education/Coaching programs encouraged to apply
  • Experience playing/coaching softball would be a huge asset
  • Candidates should possess strong organizational and communication skills, adaptability and the ability to multitask.
