President's Message

One truism I live by is that, "the only thing constant is change."

It's a new century. It’s a new year. There is a new Board of Directors and I am the new President of your association.

The information age is moving from its infancy to adolescence, and Softball BC is now using this technology to communicate with you - our members. The use of the Softball B.C. Website as a key communication tool between our association and our members has been somewhat progressive over the past 5 years. However, it is my goal to now make the Softball B.C. website the best amateur sports website available.

However, to do this I need your help. Please email me using our Contact Form and let me know what you would like to see on our web site, and what we can put on/in our web pages that would be the most helpful for you as a member (or a potential member). The Softball B.C. Board of Directors and I value all constructive ideas and suggestions. Please email - a response is guaranteed.

Our Association's Mission Statement is:

"To promote, govern and build the sport of softball throughout the province of British Columbia."

We were incorporated under the Society Act of the province of BC in 1948. It can be said that during the last 50 years we built the sport of softball, we promoted the sport of softball, and definitely governed the sport of softball. The last 50 years saw rule changes, changes in equipment and parks, age changes with more youth participation and senior participation playing softball. The histories of our game are the changes that have taken place. Every year we have to make changes to the handbook and at times we have to make changes to our constitution.

The point of my message is, "We are going to have change." The question now is, "Will it be welcomed?" Please let me know if you welcome change, and inform me of your constructive ideas.

It’s a new ball game and we should all want a big inning that puts us out front as the premier sports organization in the province.

Dennis Bidin
President, Softball B.C.
