Fair or Foul Ball Mechanics - Rick Leche, Softball BC

In one & two umpire mechanics it is the plate Umpires responsibility to make the call on all fly balls. This table is intended to outline the factors that affect both the visual and verbal mechanics used by the plate umpire in making calls on  fair/foul, caught/not caught fly balls. On all fly balls, hustle out to get a good look for possible traps or who knows what? Come to a stop, delay and make all calls with crisp and consistent visual and verbal mechanics:
