New Coaching Requirements for 2026

The Softball BC Board of Directors has approved recommendations from its Coaching Development Committee as it pertains to modifications to the  Coaching Requirements for the 2026 season. We recommend association executives and independent team managers review the Coaching Requirements found here with their coaching staff to ensure compliance in advance of the 2026 season.  

Associations that require training for their coaches can request a clinic using our Clinic Request Form, located here. Upon submission of the Clinic Request Form, you will hear from the Coaching Development Coordinator. Should you have any questions on the process or requirements, please contact our Coaching Coordinator at coach@softball.bc.ca.

Individuals wishing to register for an NCCP Coaching Clinic should consult our Clinic’s page.  They can also contact our Coaching Coordinator at coach@softball.bc.ca for assistance in finding a clinic.

Softball Canada has also informed us of two updates related to the coaching certification program.

Foundations of Coaching Softball 

Effective January 2026, the price for the Foundations of Coaching Softball online program will increase from $10 for Part 1 to $20 and from $15 to $25 for Part 2.

Making Ethical Decisions

• MED training and evaluation will be combined into one eLearning module in The Locker; in-person or facilitated delivery will no longer be available (except in rare cases).
• The current online evaluation will be discontinued starting March 31, 2026.
• Coaches who have already completed both MED training and evaluation do not need to redo the module.
• Coaches who completed training but have not completed the evaluation must finish the current evaluation prior to March 31, 2026, or they will be required to take the new full eLearning module (no additional cost).
• Coaches who only completed the online MED evaluation prior to April 1, 2026, and still require training will need to take the new module at the regular cost.
• All new coaches starting April 1, 2026, will complete MED exclusively through the new eLearning module in The Locker.
