Olivia Carreiro - Annual Awards - Raising Star

Olivia is an outstanding example of what the Rising Star Award represents. As a registered umpire with Softball BC, she consistently demonstrates dedication, professionalism, and a genuine passion for the game.

During our league tournament, when we were short umpires, Olivia stepped up without hesitation. Even while participating as a player in the tournament, she willingly umpired games in between her own, showing remarkable commitment to supporting the sport and ensuring the tournament ran smoothly. Her willingness to help wherever needed speaks volumes about her character and love for softball.

Having also coached Olivia, I have seen firsthand her eagerness to learn and improve. If players had questions about rules during practice and Olivia was not completely certain of the answer, she would take the initiative to research the rule at home and report back to the team afterward. This level of responsibility, curiosity, and dedication to accuracy is exceptional, especially for a young umpire.

Olivia consistently treats players, coaches, and fellow officials with respect and positivity. She leads by example, demonstrates maturity beyond her years, and serves as a strong role model within our softball community.

With three years or less experience, Olivia has already shown tremendous potential for greatness as an umpire. Her passion for learning, commitment to the game, and positive attitude make her a very deserving nominee for the Rising Star Award.
