About
Incorporated in 1948, but with a history going back much further than that, the British Columbia Amateur Softball Association (Softball B.C.) is the official governing body of the sport in the province of British Columbia. We are an organization made up of dedicated volunteers who hold a shared vision of what this game should be. Much of what our organization is all about is contained below:
Mission Statement
To promote, govern and build the sport of softball throughout the Province of British Columbia.
Vision Statement
Committed to becoming the most efficient amateur sport organization in British Columbia.
Value Statement
Creating an environment whereby athletes, coaches and officials will achieve their potential. Programs are structured to provide an opportunity for participation at all levels and are designed to meet the needs of the membership and the community.
Softball BC as the official governing body for Softball in British Columbia, has fifteen geographical districts throughout the province. Within these districts consists a network of elected representatives for Senior Fast Pitch, Senior Slo-Pitch, Minor Fast Pitch and Umpires, who are chosen by member teams in each district.
These delegates attend the Annual General Meeting of Softball B.C. in October every year. At the AGM, resolutions on rule and by-law changes for each administrative level are debated and either passed or defeated by the voting delegates. Resolutions pertaining to the Western Canadian Association and Softball Canada that are passed at this AGM are then taken to the general meetings of those bodies where our delegates try to get them approved by the other provinces and territories.
