Softball BC sanctioned youth teams are permitted to resume scrimmaging

May. 10, 2021

Effective immediately, Softball BC sanctioned youth teams are permitted to resume scrimmaging under the following guidelines:

🥎 Scrimmage must be for a team only, no additional participants, and no mixing of teams under any circumstances

🥎 Scrimmage is restricted to youth teams at the U10 to U19 age categories only, any classification. U6 and U8 teams and adult teams remain in Inning One protocols.

🥎 No spectators are permitted at the facility

🥎 Scrimmages are permitted at outdoor facilities only

🥎 The format and layout of the infield, along with the rules on the attached document must be followed. Physical distancing at all times has to be maintained.

The format was originally created by the 2020 RTP task force, and then updated to reflect our current situation for the sport sector. CLICK HERE for full document.

We would like to acknowledge Kevin Langley, District 7 Minor Coordinator, for his work in creating this document. viaSport British Columbia has reviewed the format and agree it is compliant with the PHO orders and guidelines in place.

Our intent is by sharing this format and easing off the requirement for scrimmaging, it will provide a pathway for coaches and their teams to simulate actual game situations closer and provide a renewed level of engagement for the athletes to experience activities more associated with a softball game.

We remain optimistic the steps we have been taking and are taking now will lead us back to competitive game play in the near future.
